Fabric Development Project

A sustainable product was developed with the help of the raw materials that were left untouched during the previous assignments, such as leftover wool fibres, yarns, sequins, fancy laces, leftover net fabric, etc. None of the raw materials were purchased for the development of the wet felted fabric which was ultimately made. With the amalgamation of these textile materials, a final fabric was created with a hand felting technique.
1. The waste fabric, yarns and sequins were laid on top of the evenly spread wool fibres, with were laid on top of a bubble warp.
2. Then another layer of wool fibres were put on top of the waste materials.
3. Then a net fabric was laid on top of these sandwiched layers, and was vigorously    agitated with hands with a solution of 3 parts water is to 1 part of liquid soap.
4. With this agitation the fibres blended together and new fabric was formed without any weaving of knitting techniques.
5. This fabric was thus kept to dry overnight and washed to remove the traces of soap in it.
